Winneshiek Medical Center representatives will distribute Farmer's Market coupons Wednesday and Thursday

Winneshiek Medical Center representatives on Wednesday and Thursday will be offering Winneshiek County senior citizens free coupons to be used at the Decorah farmers market this season.  Participants will receive $8 in coupons for locally grown fruits and vegetables.

The coupons will be distributed from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Decorah Area Farmers Market and from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Decorah Senior Center.

The Winneshiek Medical Center Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program is funded by The United Way of Winneshiek County in cooperation with participating vendors from the Decorah farmers market. 

The coupons can only be used for fruits and vegetables and may not be exchanged for money.  There are a limited number of coupons available.  They will be distributed until they are gone.  

Recipients of these coupons must be Winneshiek County residents, age 65 and older, and bring proof of their residency and age to the distribution site.  A WMC Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program ID card or driver's license are both acceptable identifying documents.  If seniors received 2010 coupons, they are asked to bring their light blue WMC Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program ID card to help coordinators evaluate the success of the program.  There are no income guidelines to participate in this program.
