Winneshiek County supervisors will meet next Monday with a representative of the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make sure plans to develop a water system in Frankville can still qualify for a USDA grant and loan.
Consulting engineer George Tekippe met Monday with supervisors to make sure they were still interested in the project--and received strong support. "We're all for it, said County Board Chairman Les Askelson, while noting that the key would be to maintain a price of around $50/.month for water system users.
Tekippe has estimated the cost of the project at around $744,000--but noted that the estimate was developed one year ago. He says he will invite USDA official Dennis Henke to attend next Monday's county bard meeting to give the supervisors a new update on the funding possibilities.
