Last year Winneshiek Medical Center relied on the contributions of 165
volunteers at the hospital. They donated a total of 9,300 hours of service.
If those hours were computed at even just at Iowa's minimum wage and benefit rates, the value of the service would be $154,284. Of course, as Winneshiek Medical Center community programs coordinator Beth Holthaus said recently to a gathering of the volunteers, "In our eyes, the work you do is invaluable."
