The Oneota Historic Future Alliance has announced that a class on becoming certified as a Sustainable Deconstruction Specialist will begin April 11th in Calmar and Decorah.
The 10-day training session is free, with funding coming from the U.S. Department of Labor's Energy Training Partnership. Northeast Iowa Community College is co-sponsoring the training.
Students will participate in two days of classroom training at NICC Calmar. After that, the remaining eight days will be spent getting on-the-job training on how to sustainably deconstruct the Caretaker's House at Wellington Place. The Winneshiek County Board voted a week and a half ago to release funds to allow OHFA to do the work.
