


The figures are in for "meteorological winter" in Decorah--and they don't look as bad as you might think.
Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz has been crunching the numbers from November 1st through February 28th--and he says the winter of 2010-2011 was the 32nd most severe out of over 100 winters in Decorah for which records were kept.
Bernatz figures last winter was milder--it ranked 54th on the list--while the 2008-2009 season was more severe than this season, ranking 22nd.
Bernatz says this was a snowy winter, however. 49 inches of snow fell from November 1st through February 28th--14 inches more than average
