An article by the Des Moines Register says the Lady Luck Casino in Marquette spent almost 18 percent less money in 2010 than it did in 2009--by far the biggest spending drop of any casino in Iowa.
The newspaper cites figures from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission which showed Lady Luck spent $17.9 million in 2010 on payroll, equipment, supplies, taxes, charitable contributions and other expenses. That was a 17.9 percent drop in spending from 2009.
Iowa's 17 non-Indian casinos as a group spent 2.3 percent less money in 2010 than they did in 2009, but the Lady Luck was the only casino to report a double digit decline, according to the Register.
