Fifth and sixth grade students at Decorah Middle School are supporting the project to build an educational center and restroom facility at the Decorah Fish Hatchery.
Students placed "Pennies for Potties" containers at local businesses, collecting over $250 which has been given to the Friends of the Decorah Fish Hatchery to help pay for the building, which will be constructed at the hatchery this summer and fall.
In addition to helping raise funds for the hatchery, students under the supervision and leadership of teacher Sarah Nowack participated in the Christmas parade, learned about animal habitats and built wood duck boxes that they donated to be placed in several places around Winneshiek County.
