


The next big street project for the City of Decorah will be the reconstruction and repaving of Short Street.
City officials have approved preliminary design work on the project, which is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2012. The project carries an expected price tag of $2.1 million.
City Engineer Lindsay Erdman says the need for the project became apparent after the repaving of Mechanic Street. Erdman says the Short Street repaving "is not a simple project" and may involve construction of a third lane. Erdman is also making plans to install sidewalks along Short Street
