Bitterly cold arctic air has poured into the Decorah area, leading to a low temperature of 19 degrees below zero this morning. In Winneshiek County, a weather observation unit four miles east of Nordness reported a temperature of 25 degrees below zero at 7:24 a.m.
Winds have become light this morning, which means a Wind Chill Advisory has been allowed to expire as temperatures begin to warm. However, the National Weather Service Office in La Crosse still says if you must be outdoors today, you should be sure to take extra precautions such as wearing extra layers of clothing and being sure to keep exposed skin covered.
