In honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, Northeast Iowa RSVP will be launching their 5th annual drive for paper & personal care items for area food pantries. The drive will run through the end of January.
The drive focuses on paper & personal care items which are important for daily living but cannot be bought through food assistance programs and are often not available at the Waterloo Food Bank or area food pantries.
Targeted items include laundry detergent, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, feminine hygiene products, large size diapers and wipes, toilet paper, shampoo and other personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at the Decorah Library, local banks in Decorah and at other points in the community.
Checks may be made out to the food pantry of choice and sent to Northeast Iowa RSVP, 202 Winnebago, Decorah or dropped off at the Decorah Public Library.
The Allamakee County Food Shelf, Decorah Lutheran Food Pantry, Food Pantry at First Lutheran, Greater Area Food Pantry in Calmar, Helping Services Food Closet, Northeast Iowa Community Action food pantries in Howard & Winneshiek County and the Postville Food Pantry will benefit from the drive.
For more information on the MLK drive, contact Northeast Iowa RSVP at the Decorah Library, 382-3717 or toll free, 1-877-806-0623.
