Norm Smith Plaza gets city council go-ahead

The Decorah City Council has officially given the Norm Smith Plaza project its blessings.  City council members voted 7-0 on Monday night to accept the plans for the pocket park, which will be built in the city-owned parking lot next to Oneota Food Co-op.

The city council also agreed to allow the Downtown Decorah Betterment Association to seek donations for the project by using the naming rights to facilities in the park, such as table and benches and a kiosk.

Construction of the park is expected the begin next spring.
