An estimated 5,000 people were in Decorah over the weekend for Luther college Homecoming activities.
Despite that fact, Decorah Police had a largely uneventful weekend. Police arrested 19-year-old Michael List of Lawler on Public Intoxication charges Saturday afternoon on West Broadway Street.
They also investigated two traffic accidents. At 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Paula Owen of San Antonio, Texas, reported her car was struck by a long flatbed trailer being towed by a trucker at the Highway 9 & 52 intersection. The driver did not stop--perhaps because he didn't know an accident had occurred. Owen's car suffered $2,000 in damages. And a second traffic accident on Water Street on Sunday caused $2,500 in damages when 52-year-old Michael Farley of Waukon rear ended a car driven by 51-year-old Leona Hoth of Decorah. Farley was not ticketed and neither driver was injured.
