The former chalet at Nor-Ski Runs could get new life at the Pulpit Rock Campground
When the Nor-Ski Runs stopped operating as a ski hill, the property reverted back to control of Luther College. Now the college is facing a deadline to remove any buildings or improvements from the property so the property can qualify as a wetland reserve.
Decorah Parks & Recreation Director Rick Edwards says the former ski chalet on the property is still in pretty good shape. As a result, Park-Rec board members are considering moving the building to the Pulpit Rock Campground, to be used as a campground office and a campground community center.
Edwards says it would cost $7,000 to move the chalet—and that doesn't include the cost of site improvements at the campground in order to be able to use the building. Park-Rec board officials are trying to figure out where to get the funding to pay for the project.
