Winneshiek Medical Center had a small operating gain during August.
Hospital officials say the medical center brought in $3,723,968 in net patient service revenue in the first month of its 2010-2011 fiscal year. The hospital had other operating revenue of $100,589. That meant that after the $3,823,497 in total operating expenses were paid, the hospital had a net operating gain of $1,060. Another $64,151 in non-operating revenues allowed the hospital to end august with a net gain of $65,211.
During its last fiscal year, salaries at the hospital were frozen. Winneshiek Medical Center ended the 2009-2010 fiscal year with a $1.5 million surplus, so the hospital has been able to award small wage increases to its employees this fiscal year.
