Winneshiek County supervisors on Monday heard from Decorah optometrist Dr. Brad Schwartz about a proposal to build a new office on county-owned land on the Winneshiek Medical Center campus.
Schwartz told supervisors the present offices of Meehan & Schwartz Family Eye Care are no longer adequate: "We need more space," he said. Plans have been drawn up for a 10,000 square foot office building that would be built to the east of the current offices--if the county board approves.
The proposal calls for Meehan and Schwartz to own the new building but lease from Winneshiek County the land on which it would sit. County officials have begun the process of scheduling a public hearing on the proposal.
