A natural gas line was punctured Wednesday at Reilly Construction at 1468 Highway 52 in Ossian. The Winneshiek county Sheriff's Department, Iowa State Patrol and Calmar/Ossian police responded to the incident to handle traffic control.
Black Hills Energy crews arrived and located the gas line in a nearby ditch. They crimped the gas line and stopped the leak. Traffic on Highway 52 was reopened.
The foreman of a three man crew from All Star Fence of Ankeny, Bob Rogers, told police his crew was using a skid loader with a post hole attachment and struck the natural gas line.
