Traffic accident involving Decorah woman sends two to hospital

Two riders on a motorcycle were airlifted to Iowa City on Saturday after they struck the rear of a car driven 71-year-old Jutta Anderson of Decorah.

The accident occured around 4:00 p.m. near Elkader, according to the Clayton County Sheriff's Department.  Police say Anderson was attempting to make a left turn onto High Street off of Route 13 when the motorcycle struck her from behind.  Anderson was uninjured.

35-year-old Andrew Makovec of Dubuque and 23-year-old Rebecca Drees of Earlville were thrown from the motorcycle.  After being taken to the Elkader Hospital, they were airlifted to Iowa City on Saturday evening.

The accident remains under investigation.
