First Lutheran Church, Luther College and the Winneshiek Energy District will share a $881,363 grant from the federal government.
The Office of Energy and the U.S. Department of energy have approved three projects involving the Decorah groups. Luther College will receive $175,220 for energy improvements; First Lutheran Church will receive $103,878 for a project at the church; and the Winneshiek Energy District will receive $552,141 for projects to help county homeowners to improve the energy efficiencies of their homes.
The City of Decorah will be the administrator of the program, and will take a 10 percent administrative fee. Agreements will be drawn up between the City and the three project applicants, addressing issues such as insurance requirements and appropriate assurances the projects will be completed.
