Winneshiek County Board Chairman Dean Darling has signed a proclamation recognizing this week as "National Public Health Week" in Winneshiek County.

The observance highlights the importance of public health departments in keeping people healthy.  Nationwide, public health professionals are working to stress prevention and support a strong public health infrastructure.

Studies have shown that 10.5 million cases of infectious diseases could be prevent by the standard childhood immunizations.
