How do you make reading fun? You create a game show around the books students have read--and you serve some pizza as well.
Coached by parents and teachers, around 230 3rd through 8th graders from the Decorah area--students from Carrie Lee Elementary, Decorah Middle School, North Winneshiek and St. Benedict's--have been reading 20 books in preparation for Monday afternoon's "Battle of the Books."
The students were asked questions about those books in a quiz-bowl format. Division 1 teams consist of third and fourth graders, Division 2 comprises fifth and sixth graders, and Division 3 seventh and eighth graders.
