Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputies are warning of an e-mail scam that is being sent to county residents.
Police say the e-mail claims to come from the Internal Revenue Service and states you have a tax refund coming. But the e-mail also asks you to go on line and fill out a form that includes confidential financial information.
Police warn the public that the IRS does not send out e-mail notices for tax refunds--and that any such e-mail is a scam.
