Consultant Carolyn Corbin and Winneshiek Energy District Executive Director Andy Johnson presented a proposal to the Decorah City Council on Tuesday night that would have the city spend $6,850 towards a Decorah Area Sustainability Plan.
Corbin said the money would be used to hold several public meetings to get ideas on how to make the community more sustainable. Other money would pay for administrative costs, including a website and other means of publicity.
City Council member Rachel Vagts praised the two and their groups for "a really sold plan." A city committee will hold a meeting about the proposal February 1st, with a possible vote on the proposal coming later that night at the Decorah City Council meeting.
