The Pool House at the Decorah Municipal Swimming Pool might be named to the National Register of Historic Places.
The Decorah City Council on Tuesday night accepted a $3,995 grant from the State Historical Society that will cover the costs of applying for such a designation for the pool house.
Historic Preservation Commission Chair Kyrl Henderson assured the city council that designation of the Pool House on the National Register of Historic Places would not limit the City of Decorah, except if it accepted federal funds for a pool house remodeling--in which case the National Register's regulations would apply.
In other business, the City Council appointed Lynn Sootheran to the Planning & Zoning Commission and reappointed Carol Kress to the Human Rights Commission. However, Mayor Don Arendt also noted there are single vacancies on the Airport Commission and Human Rights Commission--and encouraged people to apply for the jobs.
Finally, the City Council scheduled its FY 2011 budget work session for Wednesday, February 10th at 4:00 p.m. at the Decorah Library.
