One decorahnews.com reader has e-mail to point out what he thinks are the drawbacks to the proposal to use Nor-Ski as a sledding and tubing hill:
"The main problem is insurance and liability, which is also the main reason that Nor-Ski closed its doors in the first place. The city and the college would be taking a large risk by allowing sledders to use this hill because should someone get hurt they would be very susceptible to a law suit. Also, the cost of insurance is very high and with the hill not generating income it would be a very large expense to ask the city or the college to bear. Some would say that the city or college could staff the hill and collect a fee, but they would have to pay the worker, costing even more, and deter some people from using the hill. Though I love the idea and wish it would work, I feel that it doesn't work economically."
