A reader e-mails: "What is the deal with the scaffolding in front of Cary's Machine and Welding, and the ArtHaus?".
Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, which owns the building that ArtHaus is located in (Cary's Machine and Welding owns its own building), is planning to do some work on the façade on the second and third floor, but has to wait until this spring when the weather is favorable.
Vesterheim spokesperson Charlie Langton tells Mr. Answer Person: "All historical buildings need upkeep. The building that Vesterheim rents to ArtHaus and Carey's Machine and Welding actually form one structure. This past fall the museum did some reinforcement work on the facade of its building and more extensive maintenance is scheduled for the whole structure in spring. The museum is very sensitive to public safety and, although no problems are anticipated over the winter, the scaffolding was set up as an extra precaution."
