Here's where COVID-19 cases in NE Iowa stand as 2020 comes to an end

The latest COVID-19 figures from the Iowa Department of Public Health reveal the six counties in NE Iowa have had more than 7,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 during 2020.

136 NE Iowa residents have died from COVID-19, while nearly 5,700 have recovered.  That leaves 1,189 people who are still either isolating or quarantining because of COVID-19.

Here are the county-by-county figures as of December 31st:

--Winneshiek County: 1,381 total cases, with 18 deaths and 1,053 recoveries.  That means there are currently 310 people still recovering from the coronavirus (the most of the six counties).

--Allamakee County: 1,177 total cases, with 25 deaths and 889 recoveries.  263 people are currently either in isolation or quarantine.

--Clayton County: 1,373 total cases, with 46 deaths (the most of the six counties) and 1,161 recoveries.  That means there are currently 116 people still recovering.

--Fayette County: 1,396 total cases (the most of the six counties), with 19 deaths and 1,108 people having recovered.  That means 269 people are still recovering.

--Chickasaw County: 1,034 total cases, with 11 deaths and 917 recoveries.  That means 106 people are currently still in recovery.

--Howard County: 712 total cases, with 17 deaths and 570 recoveries.  125 Howard County residents are still in either isolation or quarantine.
