Winneshiek County leads the way in active COVID-19 cases in NE Iowa, but the numbers are lower than last week. A similar decline in active cases since last Monday is true for five of the six counties in northeast Iowa.
As of Monday morning, Winneshiek County reports 358 active cases (down by 25), Allamakee County reports 315 active cases (down by 44), Clayton County reports 184 active cases (down by 47), Chickasaw County reports 143 active cases (down by 36), and Howard County reports 135 active cases (down by 24). The only county in northeast Iowa with more active cases today than last Monday is Fayette County with 296 active cases (an increase of 43).
Monday's figures show Fayette County with 1,352 total cases, Winneshiek County with 1,347 total cases, Clayton County with 1,345 total cases, Allamakee County with 1,145 total cases, Chickasaw County with 1,016 total cases, and Howard County with 693 total cases.
Clayton County reports the highest death rate in NE Iowa with 39, followed by Allamakee County with 20, Winneshiek County with 17, Fayette County with 16, Howard County with 15, and Chickasaw County with 10 deaths.
