Johnston, Iowa man strikes a semi when his car pulls out onto Highway 52

Decorah Police are providing details of a Monday accident between a passenger car and a semi on Highway 52 at Pulpit Rock Road.

Police say 18-year-old Malachi Thompson of Johnston, Iowa came to a stop at Highway 52 on Pulpit Rock Road, but then pulled out onto the highway just as a semi driven by 57-year-old Darryl Brink of Waukon was driving past.

Thompson's car suffered $10,000 in damages, while the semi Brink was driving had $2,000 in damages.  Neither driver was injured.

Thompson has been issued a ticket for failure to yield the right-of-way upon entering a highway.
