In a special meeting on Wednesday afternoon, the Decorah School Board voted 3-0 to renew their Carnegie Learning Math Solutions contract for the next six years.

The program, which is targeted at 6th through 12th grades, was first purchased by the district six years ago. According to Superintendent Mark Lane, it has been well-liked by teachers is meeting the students' needs in math.

Along with an updated version of the program, the district will also be receiving a significant discount since they are signing the contract before the end of the year. Thanks to the approval vote, the district will save 15% off of the price which equates to approximately $30,000.

This agenda item was originally going to be discussed at the January meeting, but the district was informed about the benefits of signing the contract before the end of the year and then set up the special board meeting.
