In an email sent out on Tuesday to Decorah Community School District families, Superintendent Mark Lane said, "As we enter winter break we expect there will be students/families who have to isolate or quarantine due to COVID-19. The Decorah Community School District is asking for your help in communicating with us via email during the break. We will contact trace any positive COVID-19 cases for students who are symptomatic prior to Winter break. We would also like to have names of students in isolation or quarantine prior to return to school on January 4th.  Please email your school nurse if needed during the break."

Julie Goedken, who is in charge of West Side, John Cline and the high school can be reached at julie.goedken@decorah.k12.ia.us. Selina Quandahl, who is the nurse for Carrie Lee and the middle school, can be reached by email at selina.quandahl@decorah.k12.ia.us.

As a district, DCSD is committed to providing transparent, accurate data regarding cases of isolation and/or quarantining related to COVID-19. In summary, 20 of approximately 290 staff have tested positive for COVID-19, with 18 recovered.  Of the approximately 1575 on-site students, 66 have tested postve for COVID-19, with 48 recovered. Please refer to the attached pictures and graphs for more information.

Lane concluded his email, saying, "I wish all staff, students, and families a safe, healthy, and relaxing winter break. Take care of yourself over the next couple weeks.  We will return Monday, January 4, 2021 ready to continue our efforts to maintain safe and healthy learning environments in the new year."
