Northeast Iowa reports a double-digit increase in COVID-related deaths since last week

The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting that 116 people have died from the COVID-19 virus in the six counties of NE Iowa. This is 16 additional deaths since last Tuesday.

39 of those deaths have been in Clayton County, 19 in Allamakee County, and 17 in Winneshiek County.  Fayette County has had 16 COVID-19 related deaths, Howard County has had 15, and Chickasaw County has had 10.

Overall, there have been 6,643 positive cases of COVID-19 in NE Iowa this year.  Clayton County and Winneshiek County have both had 1,304; Fayette County has had 1,263; Allamakee County has had 1,105; Chickasaw County has had 998; and Howard County has had 669.

Currently, 5,038 NE Iowa residents who had been diagnosed with having COVID-19 have recovered, while 1,489 are still in quarantine or in isolation.
