Winneshiek County leads the 6-county NE Iowa area in active COVID-19 cases

The coronavirus continues to spread in NE Iowa, according to the latest figures from the Iowa Department of Public Health.
As of Sunday, Winneshiek County has had a total of 1,291 cases of COVID-19--just two fewer than Clayton County, which leads NE Iowa with 1,298 cases. Two other counties have over 1,000 cases since March--Fayette County, which has had 1,242 cases, and Allamakee County, which has had 1,090 cases. Chickasaw County is just 6 cases away from hitting 1,000 cases, while Howard County has had 663 cases.
While Winneshiek County trails Clayton County in total cases, it leads the area in active cases, 388 county residents are still in isolation or quarantine. Allamakee County has 356 active cases, Fayette County has 259 active cases, Clayton County has 241 active cases, Chickasaw County has 178 active cases and Howard County has 161 active cases. That means there are 1,583 active cases of COVID-19 in the six-county area.
112 NE Iowan have lost their lives to COVID-19--36 in Clayton County, 19 in Allamakee County, 17 in Winneshiek County, 15 in both Fayette and Howard counties and 10 in Chickasaw County.
