Two-vehicle accident causes $15,000 of damage

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office reports two vehicles were damaged in an accident at the intersection of East Street and Highway 9 in Ridgeway at 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

 18-year-old Benton Sparrow of Decorah was south bound on East Street and failed to stop at the stop sign. Sparrow struck 62-year-old Kevin Gilbertson of Decorah who was traveling on Highway 9. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch and sustained a combined $15,000 of damage. No ambulance transport was needed. Sparrow was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway.
