Members of the Decorah Public Library Board of Trustees on Monday discussed the conditions under which the interior of the library would be reopened to the public, but will not vote on a reopening until at least January 11th, their next meeting.
When the building does reopen, it will probably be with limited access. Under discussion is offering "express services," which would limit library visits to 30 minutes at a time.
The reopening of the library interior will be dependent upon the rate of COVID-19 cases in Winneshiek County, of course. However, the reopening might also be delayed by a project to replace the skylights in the library building.
Friends of the Library member Cynthia Peterson urged library workers to create a "field guide" for members of the public to use once the library reopens--a guide to what services are available and what expectations there are of the behaviors of patrons.
