Families interested in participating in Decorah's first BookWalk should look for book pages in the windows of local Decorah businesses as they walk downtown.
This month's story is A Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. The story is available in both English and Spanish.
"As the weather gets colder, it can be harder for some families to find fun things to do outdoors," says Decorah Public Library's Children's and Young Adult Librarian Rachael Button, "We're hoping that the Bookwalk is a joyful and different way to experience a story and a reason to get outside."
The book begins at Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum. Participants should walk down that side of Water Street all the way to Agora Arts, then cross the street. The story resumes at LetterWerks - Downtown and finishes at KVIK 104.7.
"Sometimes there is a bit of walking between book pages, so the walk is also a bit of a scavenger hunt," said Button, "But that makes it all the more exciting to find a page and continue the story."
The Bookwalk will be available through Friday, December 18th. Decorah Public Library, Decorah Parks & Recreation, Decorah Public Schools, and The Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce partnered on this project.
