The Iowa Department of Public Health says Winneshiek County has now had 14 deaths due to COVID-19. IDPH says a total of 1,118 county residents have been diagnosed with COVID since March, with 671 of them having recovered, but 433 still in quarantine or isolation.
Throughout the other five counties in NE Iowa, Clayton County has 1,210 total COVID-19 cases--the highest total of any of the six counties. Fayette County has had 1,149 COVID cases, while Allamakee County has had 940 cases , Chickasaw County has had 936 cases, and Howard County has had 598 cases. That means the six counties have had a total of 5,942 cases since March.
Fayette County has the highest total of people still recovering from COVID-19, with 440 such cases; Winneshiek County has 433; Clayton County has 424; Allamakee County has 386; Howard County has 236; and Chickasaw County has 182 people still recovering. In all, there are 2,101 people in NE Iowa who are still recovering from COVID-19.
