(Dale e-mails: "Do you know what's happening at the Fish Hatchery? There's some digging and excavating going on.")
The Answer Person says: "Decorah Fish Hatchery's Brian Malaise has the answer: 'The Fish hatchery received a grant to install a Stormwater Bioretention cell that will capture all of the water that runs off the cement after heavy rain events. The rainwater will then percolate down through the sand/soil mixture instead of letting it run directly into the stream. They are slated to hydroseed the area around the bioretention cell this winter yet. In the spring they will plant prairie plants into the cell to increase in the water uptake.'
Thanks, Dale, for your question—and thanks, Brian, for your answer!"
