December is the last month to renew ATV, ORV, and snowmobile licenses for 2021 without incurring the late penalty

The Winneshiek County Recorder's Office is reminding the public that December 31st is the deadline to renew licenses for snowmobiles, UTVs and off-road vehicles.

2020 registrations will expire December 31st and a $5 late penalty per licenses will apply starting January 1st.

The public is being encouraged to use the secure courthouse drop box, which is outside of the west entrance of the courthouse, to deposit their license payment.  When using the drop box, please include your name, payment, and identification of the vehicle you are renewing (Registration Number or Make/Model/Year). Checks or cash (exact change) can be accepted in the drop box.  When using the drop box please include $1.00 mailing fee and your registration and stickers will be mailed to the address listed on your registration.  Credit cards can be accepted over the phone with a 3 percent surcharge. For all vehicles that are up to date, the renewal fee is $17.75 + $1.00 mailing fee.  For all vehicles that are NOT up to date, the renewal fee is $27.75 + $1.00 mailing fee. ($5 partial year fee to finish out 2020, and $5 late penalty)

A user permit/trail pass costing $17.75 per vehicle is required for all snowmobiles operated on trails and public land.

The Recorder's Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Courthouse in Decorah.
