The Decorah Sustainability Commission is recommending to the Decorah City Council that a feasibility study on creating a new municipal electric utility be completed the fall of 2021.

The recommendation also includes the formation of a municipal electric utility task force which would advise the Decorah City Council whether to hold a second referendum on creating a new utility—a vote which could be held as early as May 1st of 2022.

The recommendation now will be discussed by the Decorah City Council on Monday, December 7th.  The Sustainability Commission has discussed a municipal electric task force having from five to nine members and is forwarding a list of nine proposed members to the city council.
