Decorah woman killed in a motor vehicle accident

Sometime on Wednesday, 72-year-old Peggie Krumme of Decorah was traveling south on County Road W14 in southern Winneshiek County when her vehicle left the roadway, entered the east ditch and struck a rock embankment, coming to a rest under a bridge in a dry creek bed. The exact time of the accident is unknown. The accident was discovered and reported by a farmer doing field work.   

Krumme sustained fatal injuries and was found deceased at the scene. This accident remains under investigation.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Saint Lucas Fire Department, Winneshiek County Ambulance Service and first responders.
