Area shown in red is the property the City of Decorah would have first refusal on any purchase agreement. The area in blue is the 16 acres for which the owners are requesting a C-4 commercial zoning
Members of the Decorah Planning and Zoning Commission spent an hour and a half Tuesday evening reviewing the application to rezone 16 acres of land off Old Stage Road from F-1 floodplain to C-4 Commercial.
The property involved is the same property which Menards was interested in building a new store in, but City of Decorah officials say there is no current plan to develop a new store on the land. City Attorney John Anderson told P&Z members on Tuesday, "Menards is not involved at all, to the best of my knowledge."
Planning & Zoning Commission members asked numerous questions, but took no action, since the meeting was billed as a "work session." In fact, P & Z member Marla Klocke asked that no action be taken on December 14th, when the commission will hold a public hearing on the application.
