Ongoing investigation leads to the arrest of a Castalia man

On August 11th, 2020 the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a residence on Greene Street, in Castalia.  The search warrant was a result of a lengthy investigation by the Sheriff's Office. The search warrant resulted in one subject charged and a warrant was issued, as the subject was not located at the residence.

On Monday, 19-year-old Michael Root of Castalia was transported from the Fayette County Jail to the Winneshiek County Jail on the arrest warrant for Serious Misdemeanor Possession of Controlled Substance.

This case remains under investigation, with additional arrests and charges pending.
