The latest crop report from the USDA says 98 percent of the corn harvest statewide has been completed. Dry conditions and warmer temperatures allowed Iowa farmers 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sunday.
Only 2 percent of Iowa's corn for grain crop remains to be harvested. That means the corn harvest is over three weeks ahead of last year and 11 days ahead of the 5-year average. In most areas of the state, only scattered fields remain to be harvested.
