Echo Development has officially broken ground on a 46-unit apartment complex in the Decorah Business Park along Sweet Parkway Road.
Phase one of the project consists a three-story building with 46 units--18 studio units, 22 one-bedroom units and five two-bedroom units. The building will have a minimum assessed value of $3 million.
Winneshiek County Development and Tourism Executive Director Stephanie Fromm notes that Decorah Jobs and WCDT are excited the project is beginning because it marks the completion of two years' worth of work: "Our economic development team and local city officials did a great job supporting these developers in making this sort of investment in our community," she says.
In July, Iowa Economic Development Authority awarded the project a tax credit of $1 million through the Workforce Housing Tax Credit Program. It was one of 19 projects statewide awarded tax credits through the program.
Brent Dahlstrom, Managing Partner of Echo Development, added, "We are excited to get this project underway. We are thankful for the support of City Staff, City Council and the Mayor, Iowa Economic Development Authority, Stephanie Fromm and Decorah Jobs, and Decorah Bank and Trust."
