Last week was a tough week, says County Health Director

Winneshiek County is now on the brink of crossing 900 COVID-19 cases since the epidemic began in March.  Winneshiek County Public Health Director Krista Vanden Brink says last week was one of the worst weeks over that 8-month time period.

She told Winneshiek County Supervisors Monday that 139 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed from Monday through Saturday of last week.  Four out of the six days in that time span had 20 or more new confirmed COVID cases.

Vanden Brink says there were a couple of deaths last week, as well as people who were hospitalized either locally or in La Crosse.

She says it's important this week to limit your Thanskgiving get-togethers to the people you live with, so the COVID-19 situation doesn't get worse.
