Clayton County surpasses 1,000 total COVID-19 cases

Clayton County is the first county in the region to have crossed the 1,000 case threshold with 1,010 total cases.
Winneshiek, Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Chickasaw and Howard counties now have a combined total of 4,852 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began in March. This is an increase of 841 cases in the six-county region in one week.
Fayette County continues to have the highest number of active positive COVID-19 cases with a total of 577. Clayton County is next with 569 active cases. Winneshiek County has 353 active cases, Allamakee County has 337 active cases, Howard County has 229 active cases, and Chickasaw County has 200 active cases.
2,542 people have recovered from COVID-19 in NE Iowa, and 45 people have died.
Across all of Iowa, there were 1,661 new, confirmed cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the state's total number of cases to 211,722.
The state's website says that of the 211,722 people who have tested positive, 116,807 have recovered and 2,205 have died. There are currently 92,710 active positive cases in the state.
