Changes in COVID-19 contact tracing will not affect Winneshiek County

The Iowa Department of Public Health is doing COVID-19 contact tracing only for the household contacts of the positive cases.  They have made this temporary change to help them get caught up in the number of cases and contacts they are investigating.

This change affects roughly two-thirds of Iowa's counties—but Winneshiek County is NOT one of them.  Winneshiek County Public Health Director Krista Vanden Brinks says her department and others will still continue to do all the contact tracing to help control the spread of COVID-19.  In fact, Vanden Brink says her office is now hiring some Luther College nursing students to also do contact tracing.  "They will be a great assistance to us," says Vanden Brink.
