A new national survey commissioned by the American Hotel & Lodging Association shows that many Americans are not expected to travel this holiday seasons. Results show that 72% of Americans are unlikely to travel for Thanksgiving and 69% are unlikely to travel for Christmas.
Winneshiek County Public Health Director Krista Vanden Brink says people who follow the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and limit their holiday travel are "doing the right thing." Vanden Brink says the best way to celebrate the holidays this year is to celebrate with the people under your own roof. "I know people are tired of hearing that," she told Winneshiek County Supervisors on Monday, but "being lax is not going to save us."
She says interviews with people who have contracted COVID-19 locally have revealed that many of them admitted to being lax occasionally about wearing face masks. Vanden Brink says people need to continue to follow health guidelines to keep local COVID-19 cases under control.
