The total number of COVID-19 cases in NE Iowa has passed the 4,000 mark

In the six counties of NE Iowa, COVID-19 seems to be winning.
The Iowa Department of Public Health on Sunday disclosed that Winneshiek, Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Chickasaw and Howard counties have had a combined total of 4,011 cases of COVID-19 since the epidemic began in March.
43 percent of those cases--a total of 1,725--represent people who currently are hospitalized or in isolation because of COVID-19.
Fayette County has taken the lead as the county with the most current COVID-19 cases, with a total of 444. Clayton County is right behind with 441 cases. Allamakee County has 272 current cases; Winneshiek County has 249; Howard County has 160 and Chickasaw County has 159 current cases.
2,286 people have recovered from COVID-19 in NE Iowa. 40 people have died from COVID-19, including nine apiece in Howard, Winneshiek and Allamakee counties.
