New mechanical engineer hired at Deco Products Company has Decorah roots

Deco Products Company has hired Michala Hackman as a mechanical engineer.

Hackman grew up in River Falls, Wisconsin. Her parents were born and raised in NE Iowa and moved back to the area five years ago. Hackman has spent many summers visiting family in NE Iowa and has always wanted to make Decorah her permanent home.   Hackman graduated this past May from North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  As part of her education, she did a summer internship with Gemini, Inc.  in Decorah.

Hackman's focus at Deco will be quality control, but she will also take on many other engineering responsibilities. She also plans to be on the Deco Outreach Team working with middle and high school students to promote education and career interest in manufacturing and engineer occupations. Hackman has always been interested in math and science and took Project Lead the Way classes in high school that inspired her to pursue a career in engineering.
